Rock Curiosities

WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF ROCK'S “HAND-HORNED”?

Universal symbol of Rock'n Roll, the "hand-horned" - or "horns of rock" for some - can cause chills in religious, who attribute the symbol to the devil. But the story is different. There are the following versions:

1. Beatles , 1969: On the 1969 album “Yellow Submarine”, John Lennon appears making the sign above Paul McCartney's head. Unlike the “hand-horned Rock”, here is more for the famous joke of making horns on the friend's head. Elementary school stuff.

2. Kiss , in 1977: There are still those who believe that the signal was born from the hand of Gene Simmons in the album Love Gun (1977) of the band Kiss. However, the sign means "love" in sign language.

These are interesting coincidences. In reality, Rock's “hand-horned” is a version of the gesture called “malocchio”, which Ronnie James Dio, a Black Sabbath singer in 1979, learned from his grandmother. The sign, which means "ward off the evil eye" ended up conquering the band's fans and spread - as you already know - as a universal sign of Rock'n Roll. Yeah! \ ../.

Def Leppard
Rick Allen, the band's drummer, lost his arm in a car accident in the 1980s. But that didn't make him give up playing. The band continued with the same line-up, and Rick learned to command the drums using his feet, one hand and some programmed beats.

  Titans
Sérgio Britto, Arnaldo Antunes, Paulo Miklos, Marcelo Fromer, Nando Reis, Ciro Pessoa and Tony Bellotto performed together for the first time at the event The Stone Age Youth, promoted in 1981 by the Equipe school. They all studied on the spot. At that time, the band was called Titãs do Iê-Iê.

Initial Capital
The band adopted this name because they had no money to start their career. The song “Música Urbana”, the band's success, had only one stanza. Dinho Ouro Preto called Renato Russo, from Legião Urbana, and asked for the second stanza. He did the lyrics on the spot, dictating that Dinho write.

Raul Seixas

Raul Seixas' first phonographic record is a 78RPM recorded in 1964 with the tracks "Nanny" and "Coração Broken", the latter a version of "Musiden", performed by Elvis Presley in the film "Saudades de um Pracinha". Although this compact has never been released, there is a recording in the possession of the Raul Rock Club / Raul Seixas Oficial Fã-Clube.
